Prairie rain turns harvest delay into a grain-quality and segregation issue

This is a week when tonnes and usable tonnes may diverge. U.S. harvest is beginning quickly enough to improve physical corn and soybean availability, but Prairie rain is increasing the chance that Canadian grain will require more testing, drying and quality segregation before it becomes feed-ready. The practical response is to preserve optionality: confirm specifications and discounts at receiving, compare nutrients rather than grades alone, and keep freight and storage plans flexible until Statistics Canada’s new production estimates and field samples show how much of the nominal crop will move through each channel.
